Elizabeth Obeng Nkrumah is an experienced healthcare professional and manager with a strong nursing background and over 19 years of experience in the nursing field. With a passion for supporting individuals and communities, Elizabeth has worked extensively with Nova Scotia Health and served as a mentor for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs).
In addition to Elizabeth's nursing career, she has been an active member of the community, having worked with the Nova Scotia Brotherhood and Sisterhood providing navigation and leadership. As well as build a strong trusted network with leaders and members of the African community. Elizabeth is dedicated to helping newcomers settle in Nova Scotia. As President of the Ghanaian Association of Nova Scotia, Elizabeth leads efforts to enhance support and navigation within Nova Scotia for both new immigrants and existing residents. As a member of the Black Nurses Association of NS, Elizabeth provides mentorship for IENs.
One of Elizabeth’s greatest passions is organizing and bringing people together to foster a sense of belonging. A notable accomplishment includes organizing the first Unity Gala, which brought diverse communities together in celebration. Additionally, Elizabeth successfully led her team in hosting the first PAP Party for Black women in Nova Scotia, aiming to normalize and encourage more women to feel comfortable about getting their Pap tests done.
With a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (EDI), Elizabeth also facilitates EDI training at ISANS for IENs, empowering others to foster inclusive environments in healthcare. Her leadership, combined with a deep passion for healthcare, mentoring, and community engagement, drives her ongoing commitment to making a meaningful impact.
