Carolynn Ryan

With a career defined by purpose and people, Carolynn serves as the Senior Vice-President, People & Chief Human Resources Officer at BC Hydro. Since joining the organization in 2018, she has led a dynamic HR team dedicated to supporting employees across every stage of their journey—from recruitment to retirement.

Her portfolio spans talent acquisition, people development, inclusion and diversity, labour relations, total rewards, and ethics. Under her leadership, the HR team partners closely with groups across the organization to empower leaders and employees to thrive. With a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations from Queens University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UBC, Carolynn has deep expertise in labour relations and collective bargaining.

She currently serves as a Director on the BCIT Foundation Board. She lives by the motto “lead, learn, share”—a philosophy that reflects her belief in leading by example, learning from others, and generously sharing knowledge to foster collective growth. In her spare time, Carolynn enjoys cycling, roller skating, and camping.
